Barcelona 1

Arrived in Barcelona during the day. We didn’t have a hotel reservation, so we had to wing it and found a random ghetto one star hotel. We walked around the main shopping street called something Ramblas and then we went to the Musee de Gaudi to look at the world’s longest bench. It kind of wraps around half of the courtyard downstairs. The Gaudi house was quite… gaudy. He certainly had a unique style.

In the morning, we went out to the Sagrada Familia to look at the Gaudi cathedral. It looks really funky in pictures, but it’s much grander in person. It’s very detailed and Gaudi seemed to really like to mimic nature and use a lot of mosiac in his architecture. We walked up to one of the finished towers. It was a pretty great view of Barcelona.

Afterwards we went back to the Ramblas street and I was able to meet up with Adrianne! Don’t worry, she seems to be doing quite well. At least she has some friends here, so I don’t have to worry as much. We had a really late lunch with her before she had to go to class.

We have a night train to Cinque Terre.
