Athens 1
It was another tiring day. We woke up at 5AM to get ready for our flight from Rome to Athens. We arrived at around 2PM and took this really long metro ride from the airport to our hotel. It must have been 40 mins or so. We checked and dropped off our luggage, then we walked and walked. We found some flea market, but continued to walk up this hill until we found the entrance to the Acropolis. We paid our admission and walked up and up. The Acropolis is really high up there.

Seeing a piece of history was really something. I know that Greece is starting some of their restoration projects on the ruins, but I’m not sure how that will go. Would people still travel to Greece to see a replica of the ancient ruins? Who knows. A lot of the original pieces have already been removed and modern pieces put in its place.

After the Acropolis, we walked around the flea market and browsed around. For a flea market, it was pretty expensive. I mean, Greece has been our cheapest city so far, but the flea market was really overinflated. We found a nice restaurant that didn’t try to rip us off (ahem, Rome) and got Gyros for 1.90 euros. Good food there, but kind of greasy.
Athens 2

Today we went to see the rest of the ruins that we didn’t see before. It wasn’t too impressive since it will just a bunch of pillar stumps. Afterwards we went shopping at the biggest department store in Greece called Attica. We spent a whole lot of time there and I was able to get some clothes of brands you don’t see too often. I think my shopping is officially over since my luggage now weighs more than 42 kilos. After shopping we rushed to see what was left of the Temple of Zeus. When we got there, it was already closed, so shots like this was all I could get.

Tomorrow we take a speedboat to Santorini.
