At the restaurant, they call it “Pan Fried Onion Cake”. My kid calls it “Chinese Pizza”, and I call it “Green Onion Pancake”. But, regardless of the name, this dish is an all time favorite. Since I did not know how to make it (I tried and failed 3 times miserably), I used to spend a couple of dollars buying it at the local restaurant.
I remember that my father used to make it when I was a child. Luckily, I spent some quality time with him last Summer, and learned his recipe. I could not believe how easy it was!
Ingredients (3 servings)
1 cup High Gluten Flour
1 egg
1-1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped Green Onions (if you love this, put more!)
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
Salt to taste
1 Tbs. Oil for the mixture
NOTE: Additional oil is needed for the pan
Combine all ingredients, mix well.

Heat pan with about 2 tbs. of oil. For each cake, pour enough of the mixture in the pan to make a thin layer. Make sure you spread it evenly all around the pan. Flip the cake as the bottom becomes lightly brown.

Repeat with all the cakes. Serve hot!

I love this stuff! My mom used to make it when we were kids and I’ve been looking for the recipe for a while. Gonna have to try this out this weekend, thanks Yokomo!
I tried it last night and it came out pretty well, thanks for the recipe Yokomo! I noticed that when I put a tad more batter it starts resembling the korean pancakes, pajun. So I made a quickie dipping sauce out of shoyu, sriracha, sugar, and sesame oil. Try it, its pretty tasty.
Glad you tried it!
