G-lato’s Bay Area Trip, Part 2: Ghirardelli Square

After our lunch over at the Berkeley Thai House, we made our way into “The City” to taste the foods and see the sights. I’ve done this quite a few times, but I have yet to grow tired of it. As usual, parking was horrendous. It seems tourists visit San Francisco on any given day,  packing all the major tourist spots. Since parking was rather difficult to find over at Pier 39, we decided to park somewhere between the pier and Ghirardelli Square. We had a few chocolate lovers in our group, so it made sense to start there.

Ghirardelli, is a fairly well-known company that makes chocolates, in case you didn’t know.  They were established some time during California’s “Gold Rush”, back in 1849.  When we entered the store, an employee greeted us and gave us a sample of one of their peanut butter dark chocolates. Yummy. I moved throughout the store, snapping pictures, munching on my freebie and browsing though their stash of chocolaty delights.  I was so tempted to go through the entrance once more to get another sample, but decided against it since  I feared the lady would recognize me.

This place is like chocolate paradise! There is even a “dine-in/take-out” section where you can order desserts from their menu. I wasn’t really in the mood for too much chocolate, so I opted to go with a Root Beer Float. My sister on the other hand, went with a Dark Chocolate Mint Sundae. I would have taken a picture of it if she hadn’t pounced on it the second she got it. Oh well. I guess you’ll just have to settle for a picture of my Root Beer Float! Not a bad treat, even some guy’s dog wanted some.

I managed to snap a few pictures inside their dining area, where they have a machine that makes their chocolates.  If you enjoy chocolates and happen to be in the San Francisco area, you don’t want to miss place. Make sure you stock up on some chocolates, because I didn’t and I regret it.  I didn’t want to carry it with me all over the city, so I opted not to get any since it was a warm day and I was afraid that they would melt. Oh well…

Mmmmmmm…choooocoooolaaatteeeee

I’m skipping the ratings on this one since I only had a Root Beer Float. More to come!!!

MAP IT!
