As our trip began to wind down, we decided to close out our wonderful Bay Area Trip by going to The House of Prime Rib. It was a blast! The food, ambiance and service was superb, although we did have to wait a while even with a reservation. It was a Saturday night, so it’s to be expected. WutDaPho was not kidding when he said that this was one of his favorite restaurants. What’s really funny is that when I asked him what the best dish was he replied, “the salad”. That was funny considering the fact that this place was called The House of Prime Rib. I would have expected Prime Rib to be the highlight of the night, but in the end, I have to agree that the salad most memorable, with the Prime Rib being a very close second.
Here is why…the salad is made from scratch and mixed at table-side. My niece even helped our waitress mix the salad by spinning the bowl while she poured the dressing. That looked like fun. End result? Yummy, perfectly seasoned and mixed greens.

Of course, a true San Franciscan meal is never complete without a loaf of Sourdough bread. True to it’s name, this bread was very sour. You are going to have to excuse the crummy pictures. This restaurant has VERY low lighting, which my point-n-shoot Canon Digital Elph cannot handle very well. Unlike bakethekitty and LeOnion, I don’t have a cool DSLR….YET!

Yes, someone uncool (Yokomo) decided to be a rebel and ordered the Sea Bass instead! At a House of Prime Rib!!! Sacrilege! Never fear, see all the meaty goodness on picture to the right? That’s prime ribs cooked at three different levels; rare, medium and well-done. Yummmm! Cholesterol heaven.

There you have it, the final product! Medium-rare Prime Rib with a side of creamed spinach and bake potato.
The meat was so tender, I probably could have just swallowed it whole. Highly recommended. If I wasn’t full from all the wining at Napa earlier that afternoon, I would have opted for a bigger cut. So what’s the damage you ask? Well, I didn’t get to see the bill. It is family tradition to fight for the bill after a meal, so that went on for a few minutes until WutDaPho picked it up. Very classy move cuz! I better go up to visit you more often! Anyhow, to give you a good idea as to what kind of price range we are talking about, here is a picture of the menu. Not cheap, huh? I can only image how much the bill was that night.

Now to wrap things up, here are some picture of beautiful San Francisco at night from Treasure Island.

Yes, you can actually stitch these 4 pictures together into a big panoramic view of San Francisco. Of course, I’m too lazy to do it, so it is up to you!
Hope you enjoyed my Bay Area Trip. Not sure exactly where I’m going next, but I do know we have our third annual Thanksgiving Camping Trip coming up soon, so stayed tuned.

thanks for this… hubby is a big fan of prime rib. but i’m curious.. what’s in the salad that makes it so awesome? guess i’ll have to find out myself
hi Jen! well I enjoyed the salad because it had a nice variety of greens and their house dressing was superb. I hate it when salads end up looking like the ones that come from a bag. Ewwww. The prime rib was very good, so definitely go with that. If/when you go, let me know how you liked it.
